Presenting Salad Days: a project by the Edinburgh Student Arts Festival (ESAF).

‘Salad days’ is a Shakespearean idiomatic expression to refer to a youthful time, accompanied by the inexperience, enthusiasm, idealism, innocence, or indiscretion that one associates with a young person.'

This project was a long time coming. After 18 months of taking a break from festivals and the creative industries, ESAF is back, stronger than ever. We present to you Salad Days a project and collective that will work to express the voice of young people and emerging creatives across Scotland.

We are launching as a response to Scotland's Year of Young People 2018, and putting young people back into this year's theme.

We want to hear from you about where you want us to go, what projects you want us to run and what resources you need.

In exchange, we will work to change policy, by advocating and fighting for more support for those of us on the fringes and not in power because at Salad Days we recognize that we are facing a cultural crisis in Scotland that works to marginalise young people more each day. And you know what we say to that? We say, that it's not right.
