Production/Performance Roles

Front of House

We will need a group of volunteers for each evening of the performances that are happening at the Scottish Storytelling Centre to meet, greet and assist audience members.

Each volunteer for each evening needs to be capable of knowing what performances are on, and what they entail; so when visitors/spectators enter the building, the volunteers are able to inform those who may need clarification, or even make a recommendation on which show they should attend.

You may be asked to walk audience members outside for exhibition opening’ performance at the SSC courtyard, and getting them back in the building at its end.

A second group of volunteers are needed to be able to rip tickets as spectators enter the auditorium, and be able to give the 'all clear' to the technician for the show to begin. They will also be in charge of:

  • opening the doors to the space only at the right time;
  • making sure the doors are closed after them;
  • and finally being the first up to open the doors once more for the audience to then leave once the performance is over.

Another volunteer will take audience members into the Library, where Charlie (a one-to-one performance on first 3 festival nights) will take place. The volunteer will be taking the audience member into the space, watching over their belongings while inside and walking them out again. More instructions to be given at briefing.
