Go Behind the Scenes of the likes of Edinburgh Printmakers and Lyon & Turnbull; network your heart out on day 1 of our our festival at our specially catered Hotdesk Hangouts, courtesy of Creative Edinburgh; and be part of our Questioning Creativity podcast series, dissecting what it means to be a creative in 2017.

Creative Edinburgh & ESAF Present: Hot Desk Hangouts

An ideal opportunity for students, graduates and creative professionals working on their own; Hotdesk Hangout offers the ESAF and Creative Edinburgh networks the opportunity to co-work with us for the day. Join Creative Edinburgh and others from the network for a day of work mixed with a dash of social. All you need is yourself, your laptop, note pad and pen or any other desk-based work materials and we'll provide the space, wifi and the coffee to keep you hydrated and productive. For our special collaboration with ESAF we will be supporting students with expert one-to-one sessions such as cv surgeries, advice and mentoring.

Waverley Care: Come and Sing Workshop with Bob Chilcott

Join us for this exciting opportunity to experience a day’s singing with world renowned choral composer and conductor, Bob Chilcott. This workshop session will give you the opportunity to learn a number of his works, and will close with an informal performance, to which you can invite friends and family for free. Waverley Care is Scotland’s leading charity providing care and support to people living with HIV or Hepatitis C.

Workshop includes an informal performance 3.45pm featuring the Edinburgh University Singers.

Come and take a look behind the scenes at Lyon & Turnbull, Scotland's oldest auction house. See what it takes to be a specialist, gain an insight into how we handle and catalogue objects and books, and participate in a mini-auction, with prizes! We hope to de-mystify the auction world and offer an opportunity to experience the buzz of a live auction, without the pressure to purchase.

Edinburgh Printmakers partner with Bridge 2 Business to present a look at how emerging and professional practitioners have negotiated building a sustainable career within the visual arts. Out Of The Frying Pan combines site tours, print demonstrations and talks by artists who can offer advice about what they've learned in the field since graduation. We'll discuss the opportunities that Edinburgh Printmakers and similar studios can offer artists in continuing their practise and accessing expertise and training.

In partnership with Creative Cultural Careers Festival, ESAF & Sandbox continue their collaborative Questioning Creativity panel discussion series. They will be taking a look at what it means to be a creative professional in 2017. Come along and be a part of the conversation. Questioning Creativity is an intimate and informal series bringing together academics, creative sector leader, social entrepreneurs and creatives to question contemporary creative practice.
