Vibrant, unique and exciting, the inaugural Edinburgh Student Arts Festival (ESAF) will be Edinburgh's first ever student-run art festival, showcasing and celebrating art from five of Edinburgh’s higher education institutions: the University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh College of Art, Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh College FEC and Heriot Watt University.

ESAF will encompass and celebrate art in the widest form, embracing and highlighting performance art, visual art, music and dance. We believe that all artwork should be open to interpretation and all should be encouraged to express themselves artistically. We want to push the boundaries of common understandings of the word ‘art’ and encourage every member of our community to get involved.

Thanks to the dynamic teaming of Edinburgh University Student Association President Briana Pegado and Queen Margaret University Students’ Union Vice President Johnny Elmer, leading a creative and dedicated committee comprised of thirty-plus students from across the Edinburgh colleges and universities, ESAF promises to be a superb week of stimulating and unique events. The Festival is also a fantastic opportunity for all the student unions and associations from the Edinburgh colleges and universities to work side-by-side for the first time.

Following ESAF’s spectacular launch party at the Assembly Roxy on Thursday 5 February, the festival programme will take place over seven days from 5-13 February, at venues as diverse and stunning as the Pleasance, Whitespace and the Roxy. Performances and full day festival programmes will then take place over the weekend of Friday 6 February, Saturday 7 February and Sunday 8 February, followed by five days of exhibitions, stalls, talks, workshops and evening performances.

Get ready for the Edinburgh Student Arts Festival and experience the new, the fresh, the emerging and the talented world of art from our perspective. See Edinburgh’s freshest new artistic talents before they hit the big time.
